June 21st, 2005 – Edmonton Alberta – The Honourable Ralph Klein, Premier of Alberta and the Honourable David Hancock, Minister of Advanced Education, joined their government colleagues and leaders of Alberta’s post secondary institutions in a round of golf and a post tournament luncheon to honour business and community partners – organizations who have made significant contributions to the growth and sustainability of the province’s colleges and technical institutes.
The inaugural Premier’s Cup was hosted at the Red Tail Landing golf course in Edmonton as a way of acknowledging the importance of partnerships in the heritage and future of post secondary education in Alberta. Partners honored included business, government and NGO leaders – each of whom have forged strong relationships with their nominating institutions as prospective employees, community advocates, curriculum contributors and/or financial supporters.
Going forward, The Premier’s Cup will be held bi-annually and hosted by AACTI (The Alberta Association of Colleges and Technical Institutes) to continue an ongoing tribute to those who see investment in Alberta’s post secondary institutions as a priority for the future of our province.
